Ammonite Necklace

Gilded silver, fossil ammonite and crystals.

The reason I selected the ammonite fossil, a cephalopod that has been extinct for millions of years, in addition to its incredibly beautiful sectioned internal architecture, is because it is a fundamental “index fossil” used to date sedimentary rocks from the Late Paleozoic through the entire Mesozoic era.

The necklace was born from the inspiration of the infinite movement of seaweed cradled by the sea current (made of gilded silver) that has embraced an ancient shell since time immemorial. Chalcedony and citrine quartz are characterised by interesting amber colours, and are minerals that replaced the organic elements of ammonite during fossilisation.
